Turn Off Error Reporting to Speed Up Your Web Site and Minimize Security Risks |
|
Leaving Error Reporting set to anything else except NONE will slow down your website and give hackers a security hole that they can use to peer into your server settings and PHP environment. Turn it off (NONE) unless you are debugging at the moment. Then turn it off!
Go to the Global Configuration in your site's backend, then find the Server tab. Find the Error Reporting setting and change the drop down box to NONE. That's really all there is to it. Now that you have turned off Error Reporting you won't see any warnings or errors on your site. This is a good thing because your server can run more efficiently, users won't see any warnings or errors you may have missed (very unprofessional), and hackers cannot look at your server or PHP settings and cannot force errors to see how else they might be able to compromise your system. Only use Error Reporting while testing or debugging. Otherwise keep it turned off. |
