The bootcamps go international |
|
In the last 2 months we have taken the bootcamps to a next level. Last month we organised our first Joomla! Bootcamp in the Philippines and yesterday we had our first bootcamp in the United States. At both events we had a great time and met many wonderful people ! Bootcamping in Manila, PhilipinnesLast month we organized and sponsored the first Asian Joomla! Bootcamp in Manilla, Philippines. The bootcamp was by invitation only. At the the Joomladay PH, which took place two days earlier, we did a bit of headhunting and invited a total of 25 developers who where all very eager to learn, share and have a lot of fun together. To be honest I personaly very much enjoyed this bootcamp, probably because it was the most techncial bootcamp we ever did. We dived very deep in the Joomla! Framework and tried to tackle a number of challenging questions people where dealing with. Like for example a SOAP bridge between SugerCRM and Joomla! 1.5 to link profile information in that needed to be stored in Sugar. A very interesting challenge ! One great thing I like a lot about the Philippines is that IT and especially open source is a field equally shared by men and women as you can see on the group picture of the bootcamp. Bootcamping in Austin, Texas, USYesterday we had our first bootcamp in the US. More precisely in Austin Texas, US. A total of 30 developers, designers and administrators turned up to learn more about Joomla! 1.5. Together we dived into the Joomla! Framework and covered many different topics people where interested to learn about ranging from from search engine optimisation over template overrides to building social communities with Joomla! Upcoming bootcamps ?For the coming months we are planning more bootcamps across the world. We have plans to come to Australia, do more bootcamps in the US and offcourse in Europe. More information about upcoming bootcamps can be found on our events page. If you are interested in helping us organise a bootcamp in your country/city feel free to contact us and we are happy to discuss this with you. Original Source: Blog - Joomlatools |
